Class reflection
What do you take away from this class? Why?
What I took away from this year of statistics and probability are a new appreciation for statistics and more open look on different situations. I have a new appreciation for statistics because before I took the class I thought statistics were just simple numbers and probabilities. Through this class I learned there is way more to it and that it can be a very interesting and challenging part of the math subject. I gained a more open look on situations because I used to think each probability was just a yes or no answer and I didn't really think of there being a different point of view or a different possible outcome then just the obvious.
What was something we did this year that was difficult for you? Why?
Something that was difficult for me this year in statistics and probability was using the Z and T tables for problems. In most situations I would know how to get to a point where I needed to use the Z or T table but then I wouldn't know how to find the value to fit the problem correctly. It was confusing because there is a value along the side and the top and if one was too low or far away you took the average and that part just confused me more.
What was different about this class than you expected? Was it better or worse?
This that was different about this class was how challenging and difficult it got towards the end of the year. I knew it would get harder but there were still things I never would have expected to do in the class. The end of the year was pretty high level statistics and probability and I personally didn't think statistics and probability could get that advanced. This made the class better because I was not expecting such a challenge at the end of the year and it made me work harder and I got a better understanding of the material because I had to put more effort into the class.
If you were to take this class again, or take another Statistics class in college, how might you approach it differently?
If I was taking this class again or a college statistics class I would go into further depth on some of the subjects we already covered. We already cover most parts pretty good but I feel if we had even more in depth help with topics we already learned we would be able to take on more complex and higher level statistics with ease.
